
After officially launched the all-new Hilux in Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2015, Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) immediately took the crew of the national automotive media for testing the toughness latest Hilux double cabin pickup. This time, detikOto also acquired the allocation felt pickup.
The selected test site is also in accordance with the character of the Hilux Double Cabin commonly used in off-road track. Understandably, Toyota Hilux Double Cabin typically used by mining companies and plantations that must pass through the streets of offroad.
Tests conducted in offroad circuit Pagedangan, BSD, Tangerang. This time, the test detikOto All New Hilux 2.5 G type 4x4 M / T.
1. Exterior Design
Before the test the toughness, detikOto first want to review the exterior design of the all-new Hilux. Double cabin pickup Toyota's flagship has been awarded a series of changes to the exterior appearance.
Hilux than older models, the all-new Hilux is more rigid. Nan aggressive design seen from the front of the grille and headlamps together.

While the rear, now has a larger dimension. The rear window is made wider in order to maximize the visibility of the rider.
2. Interior Design and Comfort at The Cabin

Further into the interior, Toyota also has changed the design of the interior. Upholstery materials have been maximized. In addition, the rear seat also has a 40:60 configuration.
While sitting in the driver's seat, the seat seemed like a hug. Seats are present such as bucket seats.

3. Tough when bulldoze Offroad Track
Toughness a Toyota Hilux double cabin pickup does not claim merely from Toyota. In testing at the track offroad, detikOto could feel the toughness of this pickup.
As an illustration, the all-new Hilux used detikOto carries mein 2KD-FTV diesel VNT inline 4-cylinder DOHC 16 valve with a capacity 2.494cc. Engine-powered 144 PS at 3,400 rpm and torque of 35 kgm at 1600-2800 rpm was mated with a 6 speed manual transmission.
First, detikOto test features Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) which is already embedded in all types of all-new Hilux. Position switches are in H2-wheel drive (4x2 high).
When testing the ABS, on a straight track with dry soil and undulating detikOto immediately step on the gas. Approximately 100 meters, immediately stepped on the brake pedal.
As a result, ABS makes the wheels are not locked even though the brakes on the track dusty ground. If there is no ABS, might wheels lock and the car can be ngesot above the dusty ground.
Furthermore, detikOto felt the move the lever switch to the position H4-wheel drive (4x4 high). At the H4 position is actually round and round wheels machine the same as the position H2. The difference is, this H4 move all 4 wheels.
H4 position is used when you are on level ground and not so heavy. detikOto feel H4 mode in slope, derivative and soils that are not too extreme.

The next field is the hill with uneven ground. This time detikOto should test the features rear differential lock. The features that in other cars such as the traction control features.
Thus, by using the rear differential lock, hanging round the wheel while in the uneven ground can rotate average. By doing so, the wheels will not slip.
Sure enough, as it passes through the uneven ground, detikOto feel the difference when the rear differential lock is activated or not activated. Currently, the feature is not used, the rear wheel feels slip.
But, rear differential lock is not recommended to use on a regular lane usage. Therefore, it would pose a risk of damage, wear of the wheels and the car becomes rigid control.
4. Conclusions
Toughness and comfort that claimed Toyota is not just waffle. But, detikOto can already feel both in the all-new Hilux Double Cabin after being tested.
In extreme offroad track though, the car is still unreliable. Not only extreme offroad terrain, road onroad or flat ground can dilibas this pickup. Only, the rider needs to operate the position switch wheel drive according to the road conditions.
Leisure feels. Shocks of the cabin is still felt. Understandably, field testing was deliberately made many mound. However, the suspension feels softer damping so that the pickup is convenient to use.
Vibration and engine noise is not too pronounced. It further adds to the comfort.
However, the minus points of the Hilux is there in lever position switch wheel which turns into a play button as the button AC. It was seen less macho to drive car 4x4. Therefore, the hallmark of a 4x4 car is the lever that there are two gear lever and switch lever wheel.
Indeed, Toyota 4x4 change lever into the play button to make the cabin more spacious grounds like a sedan. You see, with just one lever that is the gear lever, the state of the cabin quieter.
